Living
The Tree of Life represents our growth and how each experience shapes us into the person we are today.
Only through the storms of life and times that test our patience, do we anchor our roots further into the earth so that we can stand tall and strong. It’s through the times of harsh weather that the earth’s dirt is softened, and our “roots” of understanding are able to break through to greater depths. In the times that are dark, rainy, windy and disorienting, we are actually finding ourselves; we are gaining wisdom, strength and resilience to face harsher conditions in the future and support each of our new branches more fully.
The broken pieces of the mosaic signify that oftentimes we need to break ourselves apart in order to rebuild ourselves stronger and more resilient than ever before. The experiences that we have in life are the grout in between each piece of tile which not only creates expansiveness but also extra strength to face any challenges ahead.
The way the light reflects and dances on the shattered tiles reminds us that when we feel broken the light is able to penetrate our soul and allow us to heal the darkest corners. Overcoming our obstacles, we slowly and diligently put ourselves back together, one piece at a time. Nature is resilient... and our “roots” are deeply embedded and able to weather the toughest seasons.
Every individual is perfectly imperfect and only your own perspective and journey is able to create the masterpiece of your life.
You are not alone. We are all branches of a greater wholeness. The trunk of the tree represents motherhood and the source of creation. On one side, the sun represents the start of a new dawn: a chance for a new day and a new future. The moon and windy night on the opposite side represents that even though we feel we are in the darkness there is light from the moon illuminating our path; the wind teaches us to be flexible and flow with life’s ups and downs. It is after a big storm that the sun comes out! And just like the flowers and nature around us that require respite and trusting the unseen periods of growth to bloom to their full potential, so do we.

About Karolina Wiech
Chicago based registered nurse, Karolina Wiech, has continually reinvented herself as healer, dancer, teacher, artist, dreamer, sculpture and creator of life for the past several years and most recently, mosaic artist. It was in those seemingly impossible, broken and shattered times that she pieced herself back together through mosaic exploration. Heavily influenced by sacred geometry, holistic healing, and nature’s designs, Karolina uses imagery to portray strength, resilience and wholeness through individuality while reminding us that we are all just component pieces brought together through our patterns and nature.
